individual counseling

Therapy sessions will focus on new or ongoing stressors that are affecting your mental health. Focus areas can include: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Life transitions, Stress Management and Self Esteem, Women and/or Minority Issues.

In therapy you will learn practical coping strategies to achieve your mental health and/or relationship goals. This will be incorporated by identifying triggers, manifestations of symptoms, and learning specific tools to manage the identified and unidentified symptoms.

Couples therapy is a process by which a couple (who may be engaged, dating, married, partnered—or sometimes even parent and child or other pairings) works with a trained therapist to identify the root cause and specific areas of conflict and/or aspects of their relationship they would like to change, in order to improve functioning and reduce distress within the relationship. 

The therapist works to assist the couple with addressing any immediate and pressing problems, improve communication as well as developing strategies for protecting and enhancing the short term and long-term health and happiness of their relationship.

PREMARITAL COUNSELING

Premarital Counseling, is designed to help prepare couples establish a healthy foundation and connection prior to entering into marriage by providing them with practical and relevant tools that can be used throughout the course of a lifetime. Session topics include: Communication Basics, Conflict Resolution, Navigating Life Transitions and Maintaining a Sense of Self. Premarital counseling will help couples start building a solid foundation to build a lasting relationship through  8-12 sessions using the Prepare/Enrich therapeutic model Sessions ideally take place consecutively and qualify for the state discount for the marriage license once successfully completed.

Topics Explored: Family of origin, Identifying strengths and growth areas, Conflict resolution, Strengthen communication skills, Finances, Values, Goals, Differences, Sex and affection, Spiritual beliefs, Children/parenting.

Couples will be responsible for initial additional fees to cover the Prepare/Enrich assessment for each couple and couple workbook for each individual.

Whether you’re facing specific issues or simply seeking personal growth, our group therapy sessions offer a supportive and collaborative environment where you can find strength, resilience, and the tools to thrive.

What is Group Therapy? Group therapy is a process through which a small group of people meet face-to-face or virtually with a trained group therapist to talk about a particular issue(s) with which all of them are struggling. Alongside the therapist who acts as a guide or facilitator, group participants have an opportunity to express their feelings, hear different points of view and explore various techniques and strategies to help them cope, heal and grow. Group therapy provides the added element of peer support and affirms the idea that we are not alone.

Self pay clients or clients who choose not to use their insurance benefits are also accepted. A super bill can be provided to you at no additional cost for possible reimbursement of out of network benefits; reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Toni Kelly Counseling & Consulting (TKCC) believes that everyone should have access to quality mental health services. For this reason we are in network with a few insurance companies. However, we recognize that there are pros and cons to utilizing one’s insurance benefits. Here are some of the pros and cons of self pay vs. using your insurance:


Self-Pay allows you more privacy when it comes to your mental health information, unless otherwise subpoenaed by court. When using your insurance, insurance companies have the right to view all documentation and require a mental health diagnosis to determine medically necessity to utilize one’s mental health benefit This diagnosis does become a part of your permanent record and based on the diagnosis the client can be limited to a certain number of sessions. Insurance companies also place a lot of control and restrictions on our intervention and how we work together during our therapeutic relationship. Some may not like the idea of the insurance companies having such power and therefore opt out of using their insurance and choose to be Self-Pay. With insurance, you will receive a reduced fee based on the agreed contracted rate between your provider and the insurance company. Ultimately the decision to utilize insurance benefits or self pay is up to the client and we respect the client’s right to choose.

Toni Kelly Counseling & Consulting accepts Aetna/Meritian, Medicare, Lyra Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana and United Behavioral Health/Optum. We do not accept TENNCare. It is highly recommended that you contact your insurance provider and verify that we are an in network provider with your specific policy. After you have verified that we are an in network provider our office administrator is more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding insurance and payments. Out of network clients are also accepted. A super bill can be provided to you at no additional cost for possible reimbursement of out of network benefits from your insurance provider; reimbursement is not guaranteed. Additionally, self pay clients or clients who choose not to use their insurance benefits are also accepted. For all clients, payments (copayments, deductible amounts, and self pay payments) are due at time of service and will be processed through our electronic health system. ​The Billing Alliance handles all of the billing and collection of fees for Toni Kelly Counseling & Consulting.

Sessions are offered in person or via a HIPAA compliant online platform. Telehealth sessions are only offered to those who reside or are located in Tennessee due to licensure requirements.

Less than 24 hr notice = $75 late cancellation fee

We prioritize our clients by holding space for each person we see. When clients cancel an appointment, our clinician offers that space to other clients who need an appointment that week. When clients cancel within 24-hours, other clients miss out on an opportunity to be seen. Therefore, if you would like to cancel/reschedule an appointment, we ask that you do so by canceling your appointment on the Simple Practice patient portal with at least 24-hour notice.

Anyone canceling/rescheduling an appointment with less than a 24-hour notice will be responsible for our late cancellation fee of $75. Insurance does not cover late cancellations, so it is your responsibility to pay. We will charge the credit card we have on file for you when a cancellation takes place within 24-hours of the scheduled session.

No Show = $75 fee

A “no show” is when the client does not email, cancel in the Simple Practice patient portal, or leave a voicemail letting the therapist and the office know they are unable to attend their appointment. No Shows result in a $75 fee. Insurance does not cover a no show, so it is your responsibility to pay. We will charge the credit card we have on file for you when a no show takes place.

Toni Kelly Counseling & Consulting is a cashless practice and therefore only accepts debit and credit cards as acceptable forms of payment. Clients can also use employer provided Health Savings (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for treatment. Debit and credit card payments are processed via Stripe credit card processing system.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who donʼt have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any nonemergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
